Thomas was probably born around 1600, but his parents and birth place are unknown. He married Alice Haylocke at West Wickham in Cambridgeshire in 1629. A son Robert and a daughter Margaret were baptised at West Wickham in 1631 and 1634, but two days after the baptism of Margaret, both mother and daughter were buried.
Thomas may have remarried in 1649 but no more children are known. He was buried at West Wickham in 1665

Thomas married Alice in 1631 in West Wickham and died there in 1665. A birth date of around 1600 would be expected. The following baptisms of Thomas have been found within 15 miles using various indexes, with distance from West Wickham:
C 5Jun1595 s Thomas All Saints, Cambridge 10 miles
C 16Jul1598 s John Cottenham 13 miles B 8Sep1598 Thomas son of John at Cottenham
C 5May1605 s Gylbert & Ann, Little Abington 5 miles
Robert named his two known children Robert and Margaret. Robert was possibly named after Alice's father (see below) but the relatively uncommon name Margaret might help.
Thomas of All Saints probably married
Elizabeth Arnold
in 1594 at Cambridge St Clement
John of Cottenham married Margaret Buttres at Landbeach (2 miles from Cottenham) and baptised Margaret
at Cottenham in 1599. This seemed a strong pointer, but Thomas son of
John was buried at Cottenham 8Sep1598 and no evidence of a second son named
Thomas. John Spackman was buried at Cottenham 26Sep1602
Gilbert Speakman married Annis Ward at Little Abbington, no children other than Thomas are known
Without further evidence no conclusions can be drawn. West Wickham is only 2 miles from the border with Suffolk and parishes in this county are not so well indexed.
Robert-10 was baptised at West Wickham in 1631 son of Thomas & Alice Spakeman. Their marriage was recorded
there two years previously:
m 16Nov1629 Thomas SPAKEMAN & Alice HAILOCK
C 16Oct1631 Robert s Thomas & Alice SPAKEMAN
C 29May1634 Margaret d Thomas & Alice SPAKEMAN
B 31May1634 Margaret d Thomas & Alice SPAKEMAN
B 31May1634 Alice w Thomas SPAKEMAN
m 22Oct1649 Thomas SPAKEMAN & Catherine FLACK at West Wratting (2 miles from West Wickham)
B 12Dec1665 Tho SPAKEMAN
B 20Apr1676 Katharine SPAKEMAN
Thus, Thomas’ wife Alice and daughter Margaret both died after childbirth. Thomas remarried Catherine but no children of the second marriage are known
B 31May1634 Alice w Thomas SPAKEMAN
B 12Dec1665 Tho SPAKEMAN
B 20Apr1676 Katharine SPAKEMAN
There are actually two marriages of Alice at West Wickham:
m 16Nov1629 Thomas SPAKEMAN & Alice HAILOCK
m 18Oct1631 Robert MERSHE & Alice HAYLOCKE
Four possible baptisms of Alice Haylocke have been found within 15 miles of West Wickham but the two most likely are:
C 9Sep1599 d Thomas Halock at West Wickham
C 15Jan1607 d Robert & Alice Haylock at Stetchworth (6 miles from West Wickham)
Since Alice Spakeman named her son Robert, the best guess is that Alice Spakeman was the daughter of Robert & Alice of Stetchworth
