BIRTH

Thomas m Mary ALEXANDER at St Dunstan in 1714 and christened two children there in 1715 and 1722; there are several

possible baptisms of Thomas SHORT in London but only one at St Dunstan's:

C  6Dec1691 Thomas s Thomas SHORT of Pettycoat Lane weaver & Jane uxor

This would give Thomas an age of 23 at marriage and the father was a weaver like the son. Without further proof it seems likely that this is the correct baptism of Thomas

MARRIAGE

Thomas SHORT-7 was baptised in 1715 at St Dunstan son of Thomas (weaver of MENT) and Mary.  This baptism is preceded by the following marriage at St.Dunstan:

m 17May1714 Thomas SHORT of Mile End.N.Town, weaver, & Mary ALEXANDER of Bethnal Green, S (=spinster)

No other suitable marriage has been found and since the groom was a weaver of MENT, at the right time and parish, it seems almost certainly the correct marriage.

the absence of baptisms after 1722 suggests that Thomas died in 1724; possibly his father died in 1734. no burial or remarriage of Mary has been identified. The Mary SHORTs married in 8Oct1725 and 19Sep1738 at St Dunstan were spinsters
