| Just got a floor down. I took this. Hallam is busy superintending. That is him standing up on the floor. There is three of our men there so he is having an awful anxious time. The man by the ladder is one of Wilson & Bradys. He is carting timber for us. | The first hut. Sunday washing day with one of the chaps. Hallam, myself and a fellow washing clothes. The first Sunday we were there. We were living in that hut. Father will see we are standing on joist thrown across two logs flattened one side. Loggers prepare them and put them in position. |

| Here is another one of me on a roof. The light got to this one too. You will see I have a bandage round my wrist. I had run a nail into it just previously. Father will note that we are working without a scaffold. I am balancing myself on a 2" x 4" plate & hoisting up a pair of rafters that are nailed at the joint. We did most of the roofs that way. No ridge. | I took this to show how some of the huts were packed up on account of low ground. It is out of focus |

| Another view of the huts taken from the rocks when the tide was out | The huts all finished. You will see the railway leads down to the pier. It comes from the forest at present & only runs to the edge but they expect to go four miles into the wood. The huts are not all level but that is not our fault. We build on the foundation prepared for us. |
